Time to brush up on your Mandalorian

By Rob • Aug 4th, 2011 • Category: ModBlog

Today’s winner of the nerdiest scar contest goes to this scar by John Joyce.

For those not “in the know”, Boba Fett was a Mandalorian warrior turned bounty hunter.  I could be wrong about the translation but I believe the above reads “Adryanna”.

A Prayer for a Droid

By Rob • Aug 2nd, 2011 • Category: ModBlog

Here’s something nice and nerdy to round out today.  Ross Turpin from Star Crossed Tattoo in Hong Kong created this image of C-3PO’s hands paying.  Now my Star Wars-fu isn’t always up to par, but I don’t recall anyone actually praying to the force.  Maybe Droids have their own religion, with Asimov’s laws serving as their commandments.

Aren’t you a little short for a stormtrooper?

Stormtroopers take their commitment to the Galactic Empire very seriously.

The Imperials have employed scarification artist Kcir to mark each trooper with the symbol of the empire.

This is definitely the scar you’re looking for

Brian nailed this one.  It’s the 4th piece in Sames’ Star Wars scar sleeve, and I think it could very well be my favorite (so far anyway).  When I first saw it I was completely blown away by how spot on the design is.

I feel a great disturbance in the force

It could possibly have something to do with this incredible scarification portrait of Princess Leia done by Chris Saint from Artifact Tattoo in Santa Clarita, CA.

I don’t recognize this particular portrait so it’s either an original take on Leia, or from some other media (comics, etc).  In any case, it’s pretty clear who it is, and she is not happy.

These aren’t the droids we’re looking for

Leave it to Brian to yet another nerdy scar that looks incredible.  I talked to Brian shortly before he started work on this piece at the Philly tattoo convention, and asked him about what technique he was going to use.  If you recall the last Star Wars scar he did he combined both cutting and branding to create a phenomenal piece.  Well it turns out that branding wasn’t an option this time around as the smell of burning flesh tends to overpower other scents.

In any case, you can see that even without branding this scar turned out fantastic.

Head on over to Brian’s BME portfolio gallery to see some of the other scars that he did at the convention.

A Day Long Remembered

By Jordan Ginsberg • Apr 14th, 2009 • Category: ModBlog

You know, I think this sends a good message: Even if you’re a murderous Sith Lord, you still deserve to be remembered and memorialized at your best. This one was tattooed on Matt by Kannonball at F/X Tattoos in Ashtabula, Ohio. They got his good side, no?

The Coming Storm Grows

By Jordan Ginsberg • Mar 11th, 2009 • Category: ModBlog

Comes from Greece this cutting does! No information attached was there, but too good to pass up it was! Give thanks we would like to, anonymous stranger!

EDIT: Whoops, apparently this has been posted before. On the plus side, at least we can now give credit (again!) to Ryan Corrigal at Strange City in Edmonton, Alberta. I will, however, leave this post up, as a testament to the dire consequences that can result from not including artist information as part of a BME submission. (I.e., I end up looking like a jackass.) Also, please don’t send in stolen images.
