Take that Batman, The Penguin is taking over!

By Sean Philips • Feb 16th, 2011 • Category: ModBlog

I know, I know I failed to provide you guys with the much anticipated follow up to the first installation of The Cadaver Chronicles . For that, I am extremely sorry. For some odd reason BME’s wordpress site sometime’s chooses to deny me access for a few days. Then it, out of nowhere, will forgive me for whatever transgressions I may have imposed upon it, and it lets me back in. I decided to putt Cliff’s piece up Friday, and just get back on schedule with that.

However, since I managed to log in, why not post something and if I am going to post something why not some penguins? Really, after that whole March of the Penguins movie, and Bob Saget’s spoof of it, who doesn’t love these waddling little creatures?

I am sure some of the modblog readers are already picking these pieces apart and condemning me for even posting this quality of tattooing to Modblog. However, sometimes there is more to a tattoo then just the finished piece, sometimes who did the piece makes up for a lack of technical prowess.  For a look at the “man” responsible for these pieces, keep on keeping on….

They’re getting hitched!

By Rob • Dec 27th, 2010 • Category: ModBlog

I heard on the radio last week that christmas eve is the #1 day of the year for wedding proposals.  Sure enough, this christmas that held true and a couple of IAM members got engaged.  Now, you’ve seen Dirk and JackeeLynn on here before, most recently in their christmas photos.  Now if you don’t know these two, not only do they send in a lot of photos to BME, but they’re also part of the Local Hookers suspension crew.  Here’s a couple of photos from their last halloween bash.  (You can find a lot more in the Local Hookers gallery).

Here’s Dirk enjoying a beer after lifting a cinderblock by his neck.  He also happens to be taking a beating from some lightbulbs.

As for Jackee, she spent the night hanging out with another Local Hooker, Inhale-Exhale.

Of course the best part of getting engaged is the story behind it.  Now I wasn’t there, but from what I understand Dirk surprised her with the ring and something else in a box…

Congrats you two!  When do I get my invitation?

The penguin flys on…

By Sean Philips • Jul 29th, 2010 • Category: ModBlog

Currently modblog regular, Penguin Boy, his partner Baron Von Geiger (amazing earlobe weight lifter) and the rest of The Squidling Bros. are on tour with the Coney Island Cockabilly Roadshow.

I don’t make it out to shows too much anymore, but this may be worthy of making an exception for. Hell, they are even performing with Hick’ry Hawkins, a cat I used to watch at local South Carolina venues a bunch back in the nineties.

Happy 40th birthday to the Head Master, Havve!

By Sean Philips • Jun 23rd, 2010 • Category: ModBlog

Håvve Fjell, of Pain Solution fame and a HUGE part of the international suspension and sideshow community, turns 40 today.  Allen, who knows him far better than I, wrote up an excellent entry in his personal blog and I advise anyone even remotely interested in suspensions or sideshow performance go read that now.

The best thing on British TV since Mr. Bean?

By Sean Philips • Jun 9th, 2010 • Category: ModBlog

My favorite crazy Brits, the Psycho Cyborgs, are up to something.  Recently they took over Camden High Street in London for ten minutes. They are working on a new project and this was one of many upcoming promotions for that project. They can’t tell us too much about it, because the whole point of this is that they are building up interest for when it’s “released” in September - It should  be incredible though!

SERIAL DRILLER

Reality shows - Tried, tested and tired of seeing them all? Think again!!

Horror movies? Well, we have all seen at least a few that have made us cringe, jump, and sometimes be shocked at by all the blood, guts, gore and a few weapons of choice. After it’s finished off you go to bed feeling entertained but knowing it wasn’t real.

But what if it were? And what if you, the viewer, were in complete control?

Well now you are…

This is gonna be utterly insane. Pure sickness!

It’s entertainment. It’s gore. It’s blood. It’s fun. It’s pain.

And it’s REAL.

The Great Mustachio!

By Sean Philips • Mar 9th, 2010 • Category: ModBlog

Aka The Great Orbax. When I first posted about March Mustache Madness, tons of submissions came in. In fact all of my personal emails, and my IAM inbox are overflowing with mustaches now. However, when Orbie messaged me on facebook and said:

Moustache madness and I haven’t even been contacted…. thanks Sean.

ya big jerk :P

I felt bad, he’s right though, how could I even consider making a mustache feature without Orbax, the man who has rocked a handlebar for years, way before it became a modern trend.

A lot of people credit Oliver Peck for the modern resurgence of the handlebar mustache, but really we all know he was just ripping off Orbax. In fact all of you owe your upper lip greatness to the man behind the stache. Hell not even 3rd degree burns could end the greatness of his most epic mustache.

So let us take a moment to pay tribute to the one, the only The Great Orbax.

Everything you ever wanted to know about Penguin Boy

By The Lizardman • Dec 28th, 2009 • Category: Lead Story, ModBlog

Editor’s Note: Once again it’s been way too long since we’ve heard from The Lizardman himself.
Let’s give Erik a big hearty modblog “Welcome Back”!
penguin-004

Time moves fast on the internet. It has only been a little over a week since the images of Penguin Boy’s first suspension hit modblog and created a stir but that entry is already more than a couple pages back from the main page. I have been living and working Penguin Boy as part of the Hellzapoppin Sideshow and managed to pin him down for a few questions and photos. Click through to read and see more of Penguin Boy.

Oslo Fakir School Fire — UPDATE

By Jordan Ginsberg • Aug 21st, 2009 • Category: ModBlog

Earlier in the week, we had the misfortune of reporting that Håvve Fjell’s Fakir School was severely damaged by a fire. The exact cause is still unknown and a complete investigation is pending, but Håvve has sent us a status update and a bunch of photos from the scene. (Note: There are a couple spots with some very minor English translation issues/phrases I didn’t understand, but nothing that should obscure the actual story.) The good news: It’s not all bad news! Håvve’s report and photos are after the jump, and for those who would like to make a donation to the cause, please visit Suspension.org for details.

Fire Destroys Håvve Fjell’s Fakir School

By Jordan Ginsberg • Aug 18th, 2009 • Category: ModBlog

Absolutely terrible news to report here. This is reprinted from Allen Falkner:

I’m sad to report that a fire, this last weekend, destroyed Håvve Fjell’s Fakir School. At this point I do not have much information, but I have received this link and the following message from Havve and was asked to pass it along:

http://www.vg.no/nyheter/innenriks/artikkel.php?artid=557199

We’re all fine, nobody got hurt. Our school is destroyed and I don’t know how much of our stuff we’ll be able to save. I just got back from Essen tonight, the fire happened Saturday night at the beginning of a party. We don’t know the cause, the police report will hopefully be released to us tomorrow.

I’m completely perplex about the situation and don’t know how I’m supposed to handle the consequences. I have no insurance and I fearing liability claims from the owner of the building. We have 3 shows coming up this weekend and a fully booked season ahead and most of our costumes and props are ashes…

I’ll know more tomorrow.

***********************

For those of you that do not know Havve, or his group Pain Solution, he has been a member of our community for many years and has been instrumental in bringing body modification to the general public through performance, teaching, lectures and by helping organize numerous events, most notably the Oslo Suscon.

Håvve and his team have been some of the most generous, welcoming and, of course, talented people we’ve come across in this community, and this is just devastating. We’ll keep you all up to date on how this proceeds and what people can do to help, when the time comes.

Swirl and Tangle

By Jordan Ginsberg • Aug 4th, 2009 • Category: ModBlog

We’ve featured the incredible SwingShift SideShow before (here), and really, we’ll continue to as long as they keep submitting material. It’s by no means a stretch to say that this is a group pushing the boundaries of what the human body is capable of as much as any other performers out there. And hey, here are Andrew S. and Kelvikta, captured as candidly as is probably possible. After the jump, a photo of Kelvikta all on her own.
