Birthday Resurrection

By Rob • Jan 11th, 2012 • Category: ModBlog

Chubby_Vegan decided to ring in her 20th birthday with a resurrection suspension.  It started as a 4pt, then transitioned into a 2pt.  If you check the Diablos Mutantes Suspension Team gallery you can see that she threw her own hooks.

Twelve, Six, Two

Here’s something a little special from Moscow’s The Sinner Team.  Stanislav and the crew set up a 12 point resurrection that was cut down to a 6 point, and then cut again to a two point.  The best part?  They filmed the entire thing, including a camera attached to the rope above the rig plate.

Two points in the air

Last month was New Jersey’s Inked Out convention where Gisella_Rose performed a two point resurrection suspension in front of an eager crowd.  It’s probably just the fish-eye lens but it looks like she’s got some decent height over the stage.  Her husband Dominick269 facilitated the suspension.

Resurrection in the park

SugarNspice set a goal for herself this year: to perform a resurrection suspension.  Well back in August she made that goal a reality.

Her suspension was facilitated by Escape Suspension out of Grand Rapids, MI.  She also had the suspension filmed, which you can watch just after the break.

Challenge Accepted!

By Rob • Sep 20th, 2011 • Category: ModBlog

The gang over at Hooklife have thrown down the gauntlet to suspension teams around the world.  Today they announced a guerrilla suspension challenge.  Here’s some of the details:

We are challenging the suspension community to dream up, create, produce and photograph the most amazing Guerrilla Suspension.  Before anyone goes crazy we need to make one thing very clear.  Hook Life, suspension.org and our affiliates DO NOT condone any illegal or dangerous activities! Now with that said here’s how it will work.

Please submit ONE photo.  You can submit as many different entries as you like, but please only one per suspension/location.  By submitting a photo you are giving suspension.org and Hook Life permission to use the photo on this site and possibly on other sites to promote this competition.

Photos will be judged and scored accordingly:

  • 20% – Location – Based on visual appeal, complexity and higher public visibility
  • 20% – Suspension – More complex suspensions gain higher marks
  • 20% – Photography – Image quality and getting the perfect shot is part of the challenge
  • 40% – Creativity – Overall score based on judges opinions
  • Safety – Unsafe rigging and/or dangerous suspension practices will have points deducted

Grand Prize – A one of a kind “trophy” rig designed and donated by Skin Mechanics Steelworks.  The grand prize will be awarded at the 2012 Dallas Suscon.
Other Prizes – As the competition progresses we may adding more prizes.  Companies/Individuals interesting in donating prizes please contact Hook Life.

Judges:

  • Allen Falkner – Administrator of suspension.org
  • Misty “Southtownbaby” Forsberg – Head Writer for Hook Life
  • Mark “nakedlens.org” Kaplan – Official Dallas Suscon Photographer
  • Stewart “S2B” Stephens – Certified Entertainment Production Rigger
  • Erik “Lizardman” Sprague – International Performer

Submissions will be accepted until December 31st, 2011.  After that date the judges top picks will be posted.  Good luck everyone.  We are looking forward to seeing your entries.

The full details as well as the contest entry form can be found at this link.

Now remember, only entries submitted to HookLife will be counted.  That said, knowing some of the fantastic suspension teams that are out there, there are going to be more than one photo of each suspension.  BME is inviting those teams that participate to submit any additional photos to the suspension galleries.  I’m going to be keeping my eye out for these submissions over the next couple of months, and I’m hoping to feature as many as possible.  So if you plan on entering the challenge, remember to send your extra photos to BME, and send me an e-mail with the story behind them (don’t e-mail me your photos).

While we’re on the subject of suspension, here’s my counterpart at HookLife, Misty, doing a tandem 6pt resurrection, 4pt rebirth suspension.  Misty is the one on top.

Resurrection at dusk

JakeMindsnared is a lucky guy.  Not only does have have some fantastic scars by Anders and Efix, he also gets to suspend at sunset overlooking Australia’s Gold Coast.

Jake pierced himself for this suspension, and set up the rigging with the help of his buddy, IAM:LostCause.

Hook Love

Here we have Stanislav and Elena in the final moments before she’s lifted up in the air for a 2 point resurrection suspension from the bridge that The Sinner Team uses so frequently.  The last time I posted a picture of Stanislav I had some requests to get a better look at his facial tattoos, so this should suffice.  You can also get a good look at Elena’s hand implant which has healed up really nicely.

And here she is high above the Russian ground.

Head on over the The Sinner Team’s gallery to see more photos of the two of them, as well as this suspension.

Teamwork gets it done

By Rob • Apr 4th, 2011 • Category: ModBlog

In an effort to keep trying new and different things, The Sinner Team put together this triple tandem suspension.

Here’s the breakdown of the hook placements.  On top is an 8 point knee(?) suspension, although the hooks start at his knees and move up his thigh.  From there he has 6 hooks in his chest, and another 6 in his back to hold up the square rigging plate.  On the bottom is a single point chest, and a 4 point resurrection.  According to the description given, the extra hooks on the top were there to relieve the pressure on the spine, which was an issue with earlier tandem suspensions.

And here is the team that put it all together.

As always, The Sinner Team documented everything, and you can check out all the steps involved in the team portfolio gallery.

Suspending Passion

By Rob • Dec 30th, 2010 • Category: ModBlog

To the great many people out there that suspend, it can easily become a strong passion in their life.  Southtownbaby is one such person.  We’ve seen her on ModBlog before with her bird of paradise scar.  Today, we get to see her enjoying something she has a passion for.  As a bonus, she’s even shared with us something special, just to show you how much suspending means to her.

The ressurection suspension was facilitated by Hanging City Suspensions down in Fort Smith, AZ.

Keep reading to see the added bonus…

The air up there

By Rob • Nov 24th, 2010 • Category: ModBlog

When Karina wants to hang out, she does it in style.

I’ve been wrong before, and if I am again I’m sure I’ll be corrected, but this appears to be a 2 point resurrection suspension.

Aside from the fact that Karina is beautiful the shot itself is breathtaking.  Not only is she suspended by the hooks, but she’s also pulling up on herself, giving the photo a feeling that she’s the one that is lifting herself into the air, and not the hooks.
