Forever Black-eyed

By Rob • Dec 6th, 2011 • Category: ModBlog

Eyeball tattooing.  We’ve talked about it before when it first started to come about a few years back.  Shannon did a great piece on it, as he documented the procedure that Howie did on him.  It’s been well over 4 years since that article and while it is still extremely rare, we do occasionally get submissions.  I just want to note that while it has been successful for some people, this is one of the riskiest procedures and can easily lead to blindness.  Do not under any circumstance even attempt this without proper research and preparation, and even then you can still lose vision, and possibly the eye itself.

That all said, here’s a client of xRonix showing off his blackened sclera.

xRonix is currently working at Extreme Needle in London.

Again, don’t even think of attempting this without extensive research.  If anything is off by the smallest of measurements it is possible to go blind.

Jingle all the way

Adhara is fantastic.  Aside from being one of my favorite BMEGirls, her outfits always make me think that she jingles everywhere she walks.

Heart of hearing

By Rob • Sep 23rd, 2011 • Category: ModBlog

That pun was painful to type out, so I can only imagine the groans and eyerolls I’m getting right now.  Puns aside, this is a nice little helix heart put in by Zee from Cape Fear Piercing, Greenville, NC.

Now, this is just plain rad.

I have to admit, after over a decade on this site I tend to take mods that other’s would consider amazing for granted. It’s rare that I see any mods that stir up a genuine  sense of awesomeness for me. This ear mod on Kira got that reaction from me.

This awesome ear  mod was done by Bruno, who was one of the first practitioners I knew of to use the cut and suture method for cartilage removal. For this piece he used a custom made dermal punch and custom jewelry. The plan is for her to wear the jewelry for a few years to truly define the shape and then hopefully she can not wear any jewelry and still have the cross removal be well defined. If it turns out as well as the inner conch removal Howie cut and sutured on me a few years back, she will have an awesome ear mod for sure!

For more pics of the custom punch, and whatnot you know the deal, keep on keeping on…..

Pierced and Pointed

By Rob • Sep 1st, 2011 • Category: ModBlog

In addition to being a member of Russia’s #Leeds Suspension Team, Arseniy Andersson is an accomplished body modification artist.  One year ago Arseniy pointed this young woman’s ears, and here’s how it looks today.  If I’m not mistaken, at least one of the multiple piercings she has is going through the pointed area.

Just a little twisted

By Rob • Jan 31st, 2011 • Category: ModBlog

Twisted_box sent in these photos of her unique ear jewelry.  At first glance they may appear to be simple hoops, they’re actually a single custom bar passing through several holes.

In the case of the top photo the bar is passing through 7 different piercings.  It just goes to show that the ear piercing gallery can still come up with surprises after all these years.

The Warm-up

By Rob • Dec 28th, 2010 • Category: ModBlog

We’ve seen Adhara doing a bit of dancing before, but it seems that wherever she goes she’s got a great photographer following her every move.  And can you blame them?  You get a beautiful girl like Adhara dancing with a giant sword, and people are bound to take notice.

You can check out more photos of Adhara in the labret and earlobe galleries, and you can also check out the sword dance in the video below.

A rose by any other name

By Rob • Nov 4th, 2010 • Category: ModBlog

Infiniteheights sent in this photo of herself entitled “Roses at a Stopsign”.  As far as shots go, it’s pretty straightforward, but there’s nothing wrong with that at all.  You can really get a sense of a moment happening here, the sun is waning, the wind blowing, almost an early autumn feel to it.  Plus a picture of a pretty girl is a nice way to brighten up a Thursday afternoon.

Her septum piercing is DIY, while the rest of her piercings were done by Robyn Graves from Fineline Tattoo in Mesquite, TX.

And before you ask, the boys will be back on Monday for the next Movember post.

BMEGirls make the world go ’round

By Rob • Oct 21st, 2010 • Category: ModBlog

Rachel (aka Snake Woman) has sent in yet another series of pictures that showcase just how great the BMEGirls tag can be.  This time around she’s showing off her half-sleeve by Frank Pirrone.

There’s one more photo to check out, so keep on reading.

There will be blood

By Rob • Sep 17th, 2010 • Category: ModBlog

Oh yes, there will be blood when your ear is cut like the image below.

ear!

Now, if you’re like me and only took a quick glance at the image, you’re probably thinking right now “holy crap he cut his ear off!”.  Well, that isn’t the case today.  DorianVilify uploaded this image of a large gauge helix piercing he performed recently.  From the angle of the image I can’t tell if he used a punch or scalpel  to cut it out, but in either case, there was definitely a lot of blood involved.  You can get a better look at it from the side in the cartilage gallery.

It’s interesting to think of how the image of blood affects different people.  For the squeamish, this image probably creeped them out, to others this is just an average picture and nothing to be concerned with, and yet for some, this is a huge turn on.  What are your thoughts about the image itself?  Does the blood make the image stand out?  Or is it just a distraction from the ear?
