Logos and Guns

By Rob • Nov 14th, 2011 • Category: ModBlog

They say that the family that cuts together stays together, which seems somewhat fitting for Starr and Brian.  Working out of his NYC studio PURE Body Arts, the couple did this collaboration piece of a BME Logo and pair of AK-47s.

If I recall correctly, Brian did the logo, while Starr did the guns.

While we’re on the subject of BME, the BME NYE party is happening again this year.  Located right by King’s Dominion in Virginia (outside Richmond), BME HQ is going to be the venue for the festivities.  You’re welcome to camp on the property, but the hotel is only a couple of minutes away.  We’ll have basic food and drinks, but you’re more than welcome to bring extra.  Once we get confirmation, we should be able to say with certainty that there will be suspensions on site.  So, if you’re up for a great time this New Year’s, head on down to BME HQ!

Rub his head for good luck

By Rob • Oct 12th, 2011 • Category: ModBlog

We’ve seen half of Joeltron’s head before when we took a look at his Tron recognizer tattoo.  Today we’ve got a look at the back of his head where Tominator added a good luck kitty using the BME Smile Cat logo.  That kitty may look tough, but when your tank exhaust has little red hearts coming out of it, the tough level goes down and the cute level goes up.

Friday Beards

By Rob • Sep 23rd, 2011 • Category: ModBlog

I’d love to have a weekly beard post (to go along with that beard gallery I want), however that requires more bearded men sending in photos.  Thankfully guys like Marmitoman are helping make that dream a reality.  This bearded Brazilian is also sporting a Team BME Logo tattoo on his shoulder.

Brand Branding

By Rob • Sep 22nd, 2011 • Category: ModBlog

I love how words can evolve over time.  Nowadays when you talk to someone on the street, if you mention the word “brand” they’ll probably think you’re talking about a logo or a line of clothing.  To others they’ll think of cattle.  Of course, when it comes down to it the “modern” use of branding isn’t much different than the other usage.  It’s all about using a mark to distinguish something from everything else.  BME uses our logos as part of our brand identity, so when someone gets a tattoo or a scar of a logo, it means that we as a brand have affected them in some meaningful way.  Here’s an example of one by Mike Grant.

IAM launch delays and ETA…

By Rob • Aug 17th, 2011 • Category: Lead Story, ModBlog

Hey everyone, we just wanted to let you know what’s been happening with IAM over the weekend.  On Friday the site went live, however there were a couple of major issues that users found and it was taken down immediately.  Over the weekend Rachel has been working around the clock with the website guys to get the site up and running.  Yesterday the site was almost ready to go, however there were a couple of problems that needed to be dealt with.

We’re sorry for the lack of updates, but everyone has been working hard on getting it up and running and we haven’t had time to sit down to announce anything.  We’re hoping to have IAM up and running by later today, as we’re in the final stages of testing some of the new features now that the former problems have been fixed.  As it stands now, the site will either go up today with some of those features being added over the course of the week if the site is stable or we’ll have it up by Thursday with the features in place.  It all depends on what the developers can do with the site while it’s live.  I’ve been as anxious as everyone else to get back onto IAM, and Jen or I will try to get more updates for you over the course of the day.

I know it’s been a long wait, but from what I’ve seen it’s definitely worth it.

Again, we apologize for the delays in the launch, and we hope to have everything up and running within the next day.  Keep an eye on ModBlog for any further updates.

Oh, and here’s a fresh BME Logo tattoo that was sent in by Dspiercing.

EDIT: If you are having problems logging in please email support@bme.com. Please note that you log in to IAM via the main page on BME, so if you visit an old IAM link and it redirects you to BME, that’s actually the right place. You need to log in there using your email address and password. Again, if you are having problems email support@bme.com and please include your IAM name. Thanks! Jen

The world needs more bouncy castles

By Rob • Jun 23rd, 2011 • Category: ModBlog

Seriously.  Life would be so much better if every day we could spend 15 minutes bouncing around in one.  Ball pits are an acceptable alternative, but there’s something to be said for bouncing around like an idiot in a castle.  If you support the bouncy castle initiative, then you should be attending BMEFest 2011.  Oh sure, there’s a pool, some goats, baby ducks, slip’n’slides, bonfires, bbq, suspensions, campsites and more, but what matters most is the bouncy castles.  Alright, so spending a weekend in Virginia with some awesome people is probably a better reason to come down.  So get yourself over to the event page, sign up (if you have a problem signing up, try a different browser), and I’ll be seeing you next weekend (July 2nd-4th)!

Those lazy hazy crazy days of summer

By Rob • Jun 21st, 2011 • Category: ModBlog

Think about it.  It’s the weekend of July 2nd.  A day after Canada and 2 days before the 4th of July.  You’re sitting next to the pool with a drink in your hand and friends all around you.  To your right, a couple of people are suspending from a tree.  Behind them, a pack of tattooed and pierced adults are acting like the biggest kids ever as they bounce around inside a bouncy castle.  Over by the house a couple of goats are trying to steal some of the burger buns while a big bearded guy is cooking on the BBQ.

Sounds good right?  Well to make it happen all you have to do is turn up for BMEFest 2011!!  Just outside of Richmond, VA, BME-HQ is opening up its doors to everyone for the whole weekend!  July 2nd-4th will be filled with craziness the likes we haven’t seen since the last BMEFest a few years ago.  It’s the perfect time to catch up with old friends and make some new ones.  Here’s just a couple of the highlights of the weekend:

  • Lots of room for tents
  • Swimming pool
  • Bonfire (That I will NOT be jumping in this time)
  • Food will be provided, but only the basics like burgers, veggies, and chicken.  If you want something else, feel free to bring it.  Oh, and if you’re over 21, bring the booze (just don’t drive afterwards)
  • Suspensions/Pullings - Cere from ROP will be facilitating suspensions, along with other practitioners who will be in attendance.
  • And last but not least… BOUNCY CASTLES!!!  SLIP’N’SLIDES!!! AND MORE!!!

The rest of the details can be found on the event page.  BMEtv will also be filming that weekend, so if you’re up for sitting down with the crew, just let us know through the event forum.

So don’t wait, go to the event page and sign up today!  (Note: People have been reporting problems signing up with newer versions of browsers.  Safari and IE are both known to work if you encounter any problems.)

Summer BMEFest 2011!

By Rob • Jun 16th, 2011 • Category: ModBlog

Got plans for July 2nd-4th?  Nope?  Well you do now!  It’s BMEFest and it’s back with a vengeance.  The boss lady is opening her doors and inviting everyone to come on down for the weekend.  Here are some of the highlights:

  • Lots of room for tents
  • Swimming pool
  • Bonfire (That I will NOT be jumping in this time)
  • Food will be provided, but only the basics like burgers, veggies, and chicken.  If you want something else, feel free to bring it.  Oh, and if you’re over 21, bring the booze (just don’t drive afterwards)
  • Suspensions/Pullings - The space is there, just need some practitioners to sign on and bring equipment.
  • And last but not least… BOUNCY CASTLES!!!  SLIP’N’SLIDES!!! AND MORE!!!

BMEtv will also be set up interviewing people, so if you’re interested, just let Rachel know in the event forum.

This is a chance to get to see some friends you may not have seen in a while, as well as a chance to make new ones.  If there’s one thing that’s consistent with every BME event, is that after a few minutes, everyone is like family.  Well, the kind of family that you party your face off for a weekend with.

What are you waiting for, sign up for the event right here.  (NOTE: Newer versions of browsers tend to have problems with the signup page.  People have found Safari and IE to work when their browser doesn’t.)

Oh, and those BME Logo tattoos?  They belong to IAM: Klages.

Happy Birthday!

By Rob • May 30th, 2011 • Category: ModBlog

BME member eLHATABorov just had his 21st birthday and to celebrate his dad’s girlfriend baked him a BME cake!  It’s always nice to see parents embracing their child’s culture, as opposed to shunning it.

No word on what kind of cake it was.
