In the final post of today’s artist profile, we’ll take a look at one of Michael’s non-portrait works.

Like the rest of today’s images, Michael sent in multiple pictures, highlighting each element of the tattoo. By heading over to the Kipod gallery, you can see all of the smaller details in this piece.

In this, the third of four posts, were going back to a portrait tattoo. While the subject of the last portrait was somewhat traditional, this one is a bit more modern.

Looking up at the top right corner of the photo you can make out what appears to be a revolver sticking into the girl’s head. This could mean this piece is just the start of a much larger one.

The next tattoo(s) we’re going to take a look at are a pair of matching thigh pieces that depict the famous scene from Le Voyage dans la lune, the 1908 sci-fi film directed by Georges Méliès.

Even if you’ve never seen the film, the image of the rocket in the eye of the moon is such an iconic shot that many people recognize it without knowledge of the film. You’ll notice that even though the images are similar, Michael made each tattoo unique for the individual owner.

Today we’re going to be taking a look at the works of Michael Kozlenko, one of the many talented artists from Kipod Tattoo and Piercing in Tel Aviv. We’ve featured works from Michael before, as well as other artists from Kipod. Over the course of today you’ll be able to see a small preview of some of the many works that can be found in the Kipod Tattoo Portfolio. You’ll also see why Jen and I both race to post these photos first. I can’t count the number of times she’s told me her intention to fly to Israel just to be tattooed there.

To kick things off, we’ll start with a color portrait.

The soft purple shading on the face really brings out her features, and makes this appear to be a watercolor painting as opposed to a tattoo.

As someone with Alice in Wonderland tattoos, I’m a big fan of this tattoo by Alexander Yanitskiy of Kipod in Tel Aviv. I’m always impressed with the work I see coming out of this shop and this is no exception. They have a variety of artists working there and they all seem to be equally talented.

Spring is here

Spring is finally here though you wouldn’t know it where I live since the snowbanks are all over 6 feet high. This beautiful piece by Platon Sosnitsyi, from Kipod in Israel, makes me hopeful that we will actually see green around these parts again. I love the way that hummingbird pops and depth in the flowers. It makes me ache for some new ink. And for summer!
