Let seed be grass, and grass turn into hay:
I’m martyr to a motion not my own;
What’s freedom for? To know eternity.
I swear she cast a shadow white as stone.
But who would count eternity in days?
These old bones live to learn her wanton ways:

    but what i love most about the photo is her (perceived?) bashfullness - the camera looking down on her, her off-centered ness, the raised eyebrows, cute half-smile, wringing hands…anyway, nice work.

    The chest piece is from Roethke’s poem “The Waking” and says “I feel my fate in what I cannot fear” - it is not from his poem “I Knew a Woman” as the title and the excerpt under the picture would suggest.
